They even had a special bag full of little toys, stickers, and a penguin for her! She was really excited about that.
She was really happy and sweet the whole time. She didn't cry or act scared at all.
We met with both the surgeon and anesthesiologist and went over the specifics and once they were ready for her I got to go with her into the operating room and stay with her while they used a gas anesthetic and she fell asleep holding my hand. (Let me just tell you that walking out of the operating room was the only time I cried.) I went back out to the waiting area and it wasn't more than 15 minutes before they came out to let me know that the surgery was over and it went well. He said that they were really big and it was definitely a good thing we had them removed. Maybe another 10 minutes or so of waiting before they came to tell me she was awake. As I walked back there she was crying and disoriented, but some sweet nurse was holding her until I could get there, hop up on the bed and cuddle with her. She instantly fell back to sleep once I had her. Then maybe 5 minutes later *surprise* Doug came in! He didn't have a patient then so they let him come see us. It was so nice to have him there.
It was about an hour before the nurse had us wake Addison up so she could check on her. She loved the Popsicle that they gave her and just wanted to cuddle and sleep some more.
They said typical recover is 5-7 days and she'll probably snore and have bad breathe until she's recovered. We go back in for a recheck in 4-6 weeks. But we're so thankful for all of your prayers and love!

Oh no! I'm glad she's okay!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Tarin, for letting us know about Addison's surgery. I am very happy that it went well and she will be feeling better very soon. I have been praying for both her and little Kayla who will be having surgery on her heart soon. Both of these little girls are very special to me and I'm glad they both have good loving parents. Please keep us posted. Love, Grandma Davidson
